The machine tool manufacturer will plant over 300 trees in the city next spring
Wasseralfingen-based SHW Werkzeugmaschinen GmbH (SHW WM) has decided to forego Christmas presents and wants to make a contribution to climate protection. The company has approached the city of Aalen because it wants to plant over 300 trees on municipal land in spring 2020. Supported by the educational partner school Kopernikus-Gymnasium and the employees, the planting campaign will be coordinated by the city administration.
“The campaign is a good example of linking ecology, economy and social issues. SHW WM is passing on part of its economic success to the community and involving schoolchildren and employees in its ecological commitment,” said Mayor Thilo Rentschler at the symbolic handover of a tree seedling by SHW WM Managing Director Martin Greis at Aalen Town Hall.
“Sustainability is a matter of course for us when it comes to producing our energy-efficient machines, generating renewable electricity and heating with our own CHP unit. We want to leave a CO2-neutral living space for future generations,” said Martin Greis. The trees are to be planted on municipal land and in municipal forests.
