The two companies invited visitors to the in-house exhibition in Aalen Wasseralfingen on the occasion of the presentation of the new PowerPortal 4000.
Numerous interested trade visitors as well as guests from politics and business came to Aalen to find out about the innovative developments and machining concepts. The visitors were visibly impressed by the new PowerPortal 4000 portal machine, which took center stage at the event.
Investment in the Aalen site
“We are not only presenting the PowerPortal 4000, but also want to demonstrate our company and the strengthening of Germany as a location with this in-house exhibition. In contrast to many others in the industry, we are continuing to expand and are still looking for new employees,” says Martin Greis, Managing Director of SHW WM and SHW BT.
Innovative technology for the highest demands
The new portal machining center is SHW Werkzeugmaschinen’s response to the industry’s demand for flexible and efficient machining solutions. In addition, SHW has succeeded in combining the quality and performance of a traveling column machine with the precision of a portal machine in the new PowerPortal 4000. The concept enables seamless 5-sided machining with the highest possible accuracy and a wide range of configuration options. The machine is currently designed for a workpiece weight of up to 25 tons; versions for heavier workpieces are being planned. Other available options include a dynamic package, an accuracy package and a chip management package.
“It was important for us to take our customers’ requirements into account right from the design and layout of the machine,” adds Martin Rathgeb, Technical Manager at SHW WM.
Versatile application options
The PowerPortal 4000 is designed for processing a wide range of workpieces from a variety of industries. For example, for machining large engines, components from the transportation industry or workpieces from mechanical and plant engineering. The portal days were rounded off with discussions between the interested parties present and the developers of the machine, as well as presentations on the development and objectives of the production technologies.
