At the AMB Stuttgart, International Exhibition for Metalworking, the trainees from SHW Werkzeugmaschinen achieved first place.
The “Art meets technology” competition, which took place parallel to the AMB trade fair, was held this year under the motto: WE ARE BACK IN THE GAME and symbolized the return to the trade fair after the corona-related forced break in 2020.
The task was to stage a classic game
true to the original.
The trainees from SHW Werkzeugmaschinen GmbH and their trainer, Gerhard Weng, succeeded in doing this very well with the production of an air hockey table.
This table, which was manufactured in tournament size, has a playing field that was drilled with a total of 4540 1.2 mm holes to create a permanent air cushion for the game puck.
A machine was developed especially for drilling, which drilled the holes in a 23 mm grid, controlled by a computer.
Electronic components such as the counter and time control were purchased and installed.
This great effort was rewarded accordingly by visitors to the trade fair and in an online vote, and the trainees can be pleased to have won first place in the originality category.
At the award ceremony, they were able to assert themselves against other trainees from well-known companies, thereby demonstrating their high level of knowledge and
the quality of their training.
We are already planning to take part again in future years of training, and we are excited to see what theme the organizers come up with for 2024.
We will continue to promote young talent in the future and offer apprenticeships in the areas of
mechanics, mechatronics, machining and commercial administration.
Administration.
